Rye Foreign.

This image is from the series from Brightling the burial place of Mad Jack Fuller to Dymchurch on Romney Marsh the home to the fictional character Dr Syn the Scarecrow. Most of the material with a few exceptions was shot along the route. This picture is one of the exceptions with the background being the ceiling of the Pantheon in Roma, one of my favourite spaces in the world. The original background that was shot in Rye Foreign didn’t work and I was already playing with this background, just added it to see what it looked like and I couldn’t go back, for me it worked.

Jason Lamberth

Jason Lamberth

I shot this portrait of Jason  some 15 years ago when he was an actor in New York.  I worked on the image for some time in the darkroom and, never fully satisfied with the result put it away.  Last week I was contacted by a magazine in New York wanting a business portrait I had shot, and in the file was Jasons portrait. Thanks to photoshop I reworked the image to achieve the image I had originally envisioned.   I could never get the richness of colour nor the gradation of tone in the original print.  I had lost contact with Jason and in those interveneing years, he has gone on to be a very successful furniture designer.
