Triggering feelings

There is a John Lewis advert on TV at the moment called Through The Ages, its made by the ad firm Adam and Eve. This ad does not use the company logo until the end but shows us familiar images and music that we can relate to. 60s cafe, sixth form common room, listening to music on the street, black beauty on tv, sitting on the sofa with your boy/girlfriend. They take familiar objects/situations, our brains look at these overlay our own personal experiences all the time theres reference music – I only want to be with you, on my radio, smooth operator, rocket man, shine on. We feel good, we are smiling, then we get the never knowingly undersold line, its quite brilliant really.

A friend of mine says she loves my work but it always leaves her exhausted.

I work in a similar way to an advert constructing an image of elements that interplay with each other, exploring and exploding emotion.

This image is one of the Conversations series. Like an advert it can be broken down into its parts and have meaning attributed to it.

Sideshow is about excitiment of the antipation but the aprehension of not being sure what will be found.

Sideshow – detail

This is one face from a series 16 variations that I am currently placing into an image called sideshow. The final image is black and white but I like the element in its current state. Again its composed of many layers and actions.
